Creating Purposeful Presence Through Live Streams
This story originates from years of passion for serving individuals with disabilities and mental health issues.
As a Disability Navigator and in many other social service positions I have held, working in an office and out in the community, meeting people in need every day was my joy. I was able to connect, build trust, and assist many to empower themselves and improve their life situations.
Then unfortunately the world changed, I became isolated and down not being able to be out in the community, connect with others, and share vibrant energy with others, as I always had. I needed a way to connect with ‘my people and my community’ to maintain my purpose and passion.
One night sitting in my bed alone in the dark, scrolling through LinkedIn for resources for myself and my clients, I found this thing called “live streaming”, by chance. My attention was immediately caught by a guy interviewing real people about their lives and finishing by asking them about what they wanted their Legacy to be. He called it the “Legacy Question”. It left me in awe and mesmerized.
I pondered on it for days. I would check LinkedIn regularly for him to see the next interview. He had energy, he had passion, he had curiosity, and a desire for it to be deep and with purpose. All the possibilities began running through my head. How could I do that? Would I be good at it?
But I was scared. I was a horrible public speaker and had many bad experiences in front of people. Being in front of a camera, live unedited, talking about sensitive topics… Would this be possible?
With time and still full of fear, but outweighed by curiosity and passion, I was invited on that live stream as a guest and I said yes!! It was the most freeing, exhilarating, and delightful experience. The host truly made me feel comfortable and at ease! With that, I knew this was what I wanted to do and I could give people the chance to be seen and heard in their personal experiences with mental health issues, chronic illness, disability or trauma.
Shortly after that show, I bought a good-quality microphone, joined a public speaking organization for my growth and development, and kicked off my advocacy show to share stories of those with these personal and difficult experiences. I have been able to create awareness and promote acceptance of what was not so common on LinkedIn ….
Within 2 years, I have participated in wonderful conferences, given educational presentations, worked with some wonderful experts, been part of charity live streams, and have created this business.
Now I serve and help providers, that serve and help individuals. We provide live streaming coaching, creating, and production for mental health providers and mindset/lifestyle coaches to expand their brand visibility, build trust in the community, and widen their opportunities to serve more clients.
